This was a very nicely written essay. I really liked how you mentioned what you read in literary criticisms, but then how you took your own stance on them as a reader. It allowed you to individualize what you read and discuss it’s meaning in your own way. This is a really good poem, thematically, for the books you read. Expertly, you related them back together and showed how the two separate pieces could actually become cohesive. Not only did you relate it to one book written by Fitzgerald, but two, which allows the audience to develop a clear understanding of his writing as a whole instead of just to a singular work.
The only thing I would have discussed more would have been the format of the poem and the effect it brought. It’s not set up like a typical structured poem and this must have a purpose that would be interesting to see how you would interpret this use. Going along with that, I would be sure to explain more in depth the repetition you see and other literary devices that contribute to the meaning that you explain later on. Other than that, this was a really good essay. (:
